Honey Pot Project
I successfully completed an enjoyable project in collaboration with Purple Bee Farm; a small yet vibrant company specializing in honey production. In this endeavor, my role as an industrial designer was to conceive, illustrate, and render a reusable honey pot. Drawing upon my expertise, I crafted a design that not only showcases the premium quality of Purple Bee Farm's honey but also aligns with the company's commitment to sustainability. Through this project I proudly contributed to the growth of Purple Bee Farm, and the promotion of sustainable, eco-friendly packaging solutions in the honey industry.

Purple Bee Farm

Clint and Anne Ward have been backyard beekeepers since 2012. They manage a small farm in Saline, Michigan that raises bees and lavender plants. When they aren’t tending their farm, Clint works for the Department of Defense and Anne is an elementary school teacher. Both Clint and Anne are committed to educating others about the importance of honeybees. Clint continues to instruct veterans through Heroes to Hives and Anne teaches her students a bee-friendly curriculum. Beekeeping is at the heart of their desire to live an organic, sustainable lifestyle.
A Bit About Honey
There are many factors that influence the honey's flavor during its creation. Bees forage for nectar within a two mile radius of the hive. Depending on the nectar gathered from various flowers and plants; the resulting honey will be effected. Characteristics like color, smell, texture, and taste are affected both by differing nectars gathered and seasonal changes. I used this information about the production of honey as further inspiration for this project.

Ideation and Rough Sketches
During the ideation and rough sketch phase of the design process, I explored many creative possibilities for the reusable honey pot project. Engaging in an iterative brainstorming process, I produced many sketches enveloping diverse design concepts and potential directions. These sketches served as a visual brainstorm, allowing me to experiment freely with different shapes, functionalities, and aesthetic elements. Subsequently, I evaluated each sketch, selecting the most promising and unique concepts to carry into the next phase. This phase was crucial in laying the foundation for the development of a distinctive and purposeful reusable honey pot that would align seamlessly with the ethos of Purple Bee Farm.

Orthographic Drawings
Transitioning into the Orthographic Drawings phase marked a pivotal step in refining the concepts made for the reusable honey pot project. In this stage, I translated the top four rough sketches into precise orthographic views. Each drawing provided a comprehensive representation of the design from various angles, including top and front views. This process allowed for a thorough examination of the honey pot's form, proportions, and dimensions, ensuring accuracy and clarity in the design. This meticulous detailing facilitated effective communication between the design team and Purple Bee Farm, as well as ensuring the realization of a functional and visually compelling product.

Final Design and Renders
Initiating the Final Design and Render phase marked the culmination of an intricate and thoughtful design journey. Building from the orthographic phase, I gave new reality to the chosen design through painted renders. These renders showcased the final product with realistic textures and materials, portraying the honey pot with an earthy ceramic exterior adorned with a soft food-safe glaze. The lid of the pot is crafted from transparent glass, delicately encasing the vibrant flowers used by bees in the honey-making process. This decorative element not only adds a touch of beauty, but serves as an enticing visual representation of the honey's flavor profile. The innovative and sustainable honey pot design is now poised to resonate with consumers, embodying the essence of Purple Bee Farm's commitment to quality and nature.
